    This is Great Grandma Ada's father Richard Lown. He was a soldier in the Civil War serving in the famous Dutchess County Regiment the (150th NY) He was at the battle of Gettysburg, and then went out west to serve in the Army of the Cumberland under General Sherman. he was part of the infamous march to the sea and was in the Battle of Bentenville NC which took place a week or so after Appomattox and saw the surrender of the real last organized army of the Confederacy. After that he and his unit went to Washington D.C. and participated in the Victory Parade for Sherman's Army.
