Obituary for Cora A. Craig from unknown newspaper.
Cora A. Craig, nee Balis, was born near Parkersburg, West Virginia on
February 14, 18 E. to, and died at her home on Dent Ridge Sept. 24, 1930,
aged 48 years, 1 months and 10 days. She was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
R. M. Balis and grew to womanhood in the community in which she was born.
On Dec. 7, 1904 she was united in their age to John A. Craig, to which
union five children were more, four daughters and one son. One daughter
died in infancy. Surviving are: Roger Craig, of Detroit; Mrs. Nellie
Schneider, of Woodsfield; Edna and Dorothy, at home. Her husband,
father, and the following brothers and sisters also survive: Mrs. Mary
Crawford, of Cleveland; Mrs. John Jackson, of Woodsfield Route 1; Mrs.
Emma Norris, of New Brighton, Pennsylvania; Mrs. John Agin, of Woodsfield
Route 5:Leonard and Charles Balis, of Detroit. There are also two
grandchildren.
Mrs. Craig spent practically all her married life in the Dent Ridge
community, an honored and respected citizen. Here she lived "By the side
of the road" helped maintain a good country home, and her passing in the
prime of mature her life is mourned not only by her devoted family but by
scorers ofneighbors and friends.
Mrs. Craig was converted and became a member of the Methodist Episcopal
Church for 25 years, to which faith she remained true and faithful
throughout her life until summoned to the Better Home were sorrow and
parting are no more.
Funeral services were held at Moffett's on Friday in charge of her
pastor, Rev. J. L. Baker and were largely attended, Interment inMoffett
Cemetery.
