William and Elizabeth lived next to the Wyscarver Farm in Beaver Twp.,
      Noble Cty., Ohio.

William Lashley was born on July 23, 1830 the son of George and Margaret Allender Lashley. William was the grandson of Joseph Lashley, Jr. and his wife Sarah Long. William was a first cousin to Josiah Lashley pictured on this site earlier and was my second cousin, four times removed two different ways.
William married Elizabeth Danford on September 2, 1852 in Noble County and they had 11 children. Elizabeth, the daughter of Hiram and Rachel Groves Danford, was born March 6, 1832, died March 7th 1909. She was the granddaughter of Jonas and Rosanna Perkins Groves and a grand niece of Rueben Perkins, 1767-1816.
    • William Lashley was born July 23, 1830 in Mead Township, Belmont County, Ohio. He was the oldest child of George Lashley and Margaret Allender Lashley. He married Elizabeth Danford September 2, 1852 in Noble County, Ohio. Elizabeth was born March 6, 1832 in Seneca Township, Guernsey County, Ohio (became Noble County in 1851). She was the eighth child and first daughter of Hiram and Rachel Groves Danford.
William and Elizabeth lived on the farm which George & Margaret Allender Lashley had purchased from William Allender in 1838. The farm was located in section 32 in Beaver Township, Guernsey County and would later be a part of Noble County. It remained in the family until most of it was sold to a coal company in the early 1960s. Part of the farm is still in the family.
According to William Lashley's obituary, he was a prominent farmer. In I. H. Watkins's 1887 History of Noble County, Ohio, it is mentioned that he had a coal mine.
It was told to me by Elizabeth Roe Gallagher, a great-granddaughter of William and Elizabeth, that after the birth of Ruth Elizabeth Miley on April 15, 1909, William drove his horse and buggy to see her at her parents' farm several miles down the valley. Ruth was the daughter of Bion and Margaret Lashley Miley.
It is mentioned in Elizabeth Lashley's obituary that "she was a dutiful wife and a loving mother and was a woman of excellent qualities, honest, kind-hearted and generous to a fault."
To William and Elizabeth were born 11 children: Rachel Rosanah, George Washington, Leroy Tracey, Margaret Jane, Isaac Jefferson, Harriet Fidela, Vanamburg, Samuel Peter, Lydia Cora, Infant who was stillborn and John Renner.
Elizabeth died March 7, 1909 after suffering for 5 years from paralysis. William died October 14, 1909 of pneumonia. They are buried in Glady Valley M.E. Church cemetery in Marion Township, Noble County, Ohio. [4]
